Primo translates as ancient Chinese aboriginal people living in a primal state. The music characterizes the inhabitants along the shores of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers (where the majority of Chinese people originated) from 5000 years ago, a time before spoken or written language -- a Chinese aboriginal society where music and dance is the language.

The music explores new methods of blending complex western musical forms with timbres from unsophisticated Chinese folk music traditions, creating a vivid musical tableau.
